Soo...I am a person who takes on a devout interest in politics. Even if it fails to involve my home country. If you watch the news, you may have heard about Conservative pundit Ann Coulter's visit to several Canadian Universities to deliver a speech about *derisive snort* Media Bias and Political Correctness.
If you ask me, she is the last person who should be talking about either of those topics. But....I agree that she has the right to express an opinion. While she had cancelled her speech at the University of Ottawa due to heavy protesting, there are a number of things to take into consideration. Free speech vs. Hate Speech, the debate rages onwards.
Here I found a wonderful summation of the incidents which transpired during her cross-country tour.
"While the middle-aged wring their hands about the anti-Coulter protests, there's a lesson to be learned from the youth. The students at the University of Ottawa who put their boots to the ground in protest clearly and forcefully expressed their view that Coulter's racism, her homophobia, or her penchant for glib sound bites about how torture should be a televised spectator sport had no place on an enlightened, multicultural Canadian college campus in 2010--at least not on theirs, if anywhere in a civilized society."
The entire article is an excellent read, and can be found at
